Liverpool fans will be delighted to know that Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah has promised the club that he wants to win trophies this season.
The Reds are currently enjoying a fruitful start to their Premier League campaign as Liverpool sit in 2nd place just two points behind Manchester City after 13 games played. Despite not hitting top form yet this term, Liverpool is on the verge of competing for the Premier League title and talisman Mohamed Salah is keen on winning silverware with the club this season.
The 26-year-old star winger arrived from AS Roma last season and went on to have a fantastic debut season for Liverpool as he scored a staggering 44 goals across all competitions helping Jurgen Klopp’s side reach the final of the Champions League. However, Liverpool lost out on the final of the European competition as Salah left the pitch injured and in tears.
Having overcome a slight goal drought early on in the season, set by his extremely high standards, Salah has gotten back to scoring regularly for Liverpool and is confident of winning some trophies with the club after tearing up records last season.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Salah said, “My target last season was not only to break the record but also to win something with the club, we were very close in the Champions League final but this is football, we have to accept the result. This time also I can’t say my individual one but my target now is to win something for the club. This would be huge for us as a team and as players. It’s also a dream for the city and for the fans. I think this season we are going to do something.”
It’s very important for a big club like Liverpool to start winning trophies soon because just reaching finals isn’t good enough. The Merseyside giants last won a trophy back in 2012 and silverware is long due for a club the stature of Liverpool.
