Liverpool star attacker Mohammad Salah is feared to miss his side’s next two games following a retest of COVID-19 reports confirming positive once again, as declared by the Egyptian FA in an official announcement.
Salah had tested positive for the pandemic virus earlier this week, just days after attending his brother’s wedding celebrations in Cairo, and initial reports had indicated that the winger was self-isolating in Egypt for a period of up to ten days, before making any further decision on him taking the flight back to England.
However, the recent declaration of the Egyptian FA, as reported by BBC, will refute earlier speculation that Salah was in line to play Liverpool FC’s weekend fixture against Leicester City, which the player will now most defiantly miss. Also, the Egyptian international is now a major doubt for next week’s Champions League clash against Atalanta.
“Today, Mohamed Salah, the star of the national team and the English club Liverpool, made a new swab to detect the COVID-19 virus, but its result was positive,” the statement from the Egyptian FA read.
The absence of Salah, one of the most important players in Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool FC ranks, is likely to deal a massive blow to the Merseysiders ahead of Leicester City’s visit to Anfield on Sunday.
Diogo Jota’s fantastic form of late will put the Portuguese forward in contention for making the Liverpool FC XI over the coming weekend, but every Reds supporter will be praying for Salah’s hasty recovery and subsequent return to the pitch.
