Naby Keita’s name joined the frighteningly increasing list of injured Liverpool FC first-team stars, as the midfielder had to be substituted off the pitch during Sunday’s victory over Leicester City owing to a hamstring complication.
Keita went down in the 53rd minute of the game and subsequently limped off the Anfield turf, with Neco Williams being brought on by Jurgen Klopp as James Milner slotted into Keita’s vacated position in the centre of the park.
Speaking after reporters in a post-match address after his side stormed to a comfortable win against the Foxes, Klopp explained that due to a hamstring niggle, Keita was unable to carry on over the course of the remaining minutes.
“He felt his hamstring and was not able to play on, otherwise he would have stayed on the pitch,” said the Liverpool FC boss.
Both Klopp, as well as the Reds fanbase, will be dearly hoping that Keita’s latest injury blow does not turn into a long-term injury nightmare for the player.
The Premier League holders already have a host of injury trouble on their hands, and Keita’s addition to the list will only make the issue more severe for Klopp and Co.
