Nat Phillips signs for AFC Bournemouth on loan until the end of the season

Liverpool central defender Nat Phillips signed for AFC Bournemouth on loan until the end of the season on Monday’s deadline day, confirmed reports from the club’s official website.

Phillips had been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield in the now-closed January transfer window with the player unable to get regular game time under his belt so far in the campaign.

Jurgen Klopp had relied on Phillips to emerge as an influential figure in the Liverpool backline towards the backend of last season with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez out on the sidelines with long-term injury layoffs.

The Liverpool boss, however, had little for Phillips to deliver upon of late with Ibrahima Konate’s addition to the Anfield ranks in the summer and the former is now set to turn out in the Championship with his new side Bournemouth.

He has penned a long-term deal on Merseyside with the Reds last summer which could indicate Liverpool wanting to pocket a sizable fee for parting ways with him permanently in the near future.
