Breaking- Nathaniel Clyne To Miss The Whole Year Due To Injury

According to the latest reports, Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne will miss up to six months of footballing action following a crucial anterior ligament injury that he suffered in a friendly against Borussia Dortmund at the Norte Dame on Friday.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool endured a tremendous run in the Premier League last term as they fought tooth and nail against Manchester City for the Premiership. The Reds recorded their best-ever season in the Premier League ever since the club was formed back in 1892 but still finished one solitary point behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side.

But it wasn’t all doom and gloom for the Merseyside giants as they tasted success on a continental stage by winning the Champions League trophy for the sixth time in the clubs illustrious history. Klopp is now eager to dethrone Manchester City as champions of England and end their dominance in the Premier League by winning the title with Liverpool.

As the preseason tours are nearing their end, Liverpool has been dealt a major setback with an injury to right-back Nathaniel Clyne after the 28-year-old picked up a ligament problem in the first game on tour of the United States against Borussia Dortmund in a friendly.

The extent of the injury was not recognized initially but just before Liverpool’s second game in Boston, the swelling reduced and Clyne was given the shocking news. Clyne then left the Liverpool squad to return to the UK where he would receive treatment and then an operation. The Liverpool defender is now set to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp addressed the injury issue and admitted that he is gutted for the Clyne, who will miss the remainder of the year out with an injury that he picked up during the preseason. The 52-year-old German manager spoke to the club’s official website and said, “What can I say other than how gutted we all are for Clyne. He was training and playing so well – he was in outstanding shape. Clearly, an injury of this nature isn’t a happy moment for any player, but the silver lining for him is that, according to the medical guys, it’s a straightforward ACL injury. This means fixing it and coming back from it should follow a path that is free from pitfalls and complications. At the moment there isn’t much more to say beyond we’ll all support Clyney in whatever way we can and we look forward to seeing him back on the pitch as soon as responsibly possible. He is such a sound professional and is naturally very fit and strong, so all these things are in his favor.”
