Liverpool won the game 1-0 in front of St. James Park thanks to a combination play from Naby Keita and Diogo Jota early in the first half.
The Reds didn’t give any sort of chance for the Eddie How’s side to smell the blood inside their 18-yard-box and manage to hold on to their lead.
First Half
The visitors almost ended up the hopes of the Magpies by dominating the entire first 45 minutes in the Premier League contest as the Reds could have been leading the scoreline by more than a goal.
Naby Keita came close to scoring in the 7th minute of the game as he blasts from the insider-right channel creeps which just went wide of the left post.
Moments later the 27-year-old Gueinuan produced a composed finish to give his side the lead thanks to a clever move by his teammate Diogo Jota.
The Portuguese forward almost named himself on the scoresheet after he failed to give his side a two-goal cushion via Jordan Henderson’s cross, which Dunragets over to his right to palm his attempt over the bar.
Second Half
Sadio Mane had the best chance to increase the lead by 2 goals as Gomez raids down the right flank and cuts the ball back for the Senegalese to place the ball in the right corner but puts the ball wide.
In the later stage, Diogo Jota was played into acres of space, he burst into the Magpie’s box but goes for a powerful half-volley which goes straight into the palms of a routine stop.
