Romano has claimed that Liverpool have been scouting their longstanding target in Diaz for a year now but remain a fair distance away from touching base with Porto over a move for the star forward midway through the season.
Diaz’s stellar run of form in the final third for FC Porto has earned the Columbia international rave reviews and made him a top name on the shopping list at Anfield for the ongoing January transfer window.
The 24-year-old has netted 12 times across his 15 outings in top flight action this season which could make him a valuable addition to the Liverpool ranks as Klopp’s men struggle to keep pace with the league leaders Manchester City.
