Jurgen Klopp’s travelling party made the most of an early corner kick that came their way as Kostas Tsimikas’ delivery into the box fell to Takumi Minamino who slotted it past Norwich goalie Angus Gunn for the opening goal.
Summer signing Ibrahima Konate came very close to doubling Liverpool’s advantage but his header off another brilliant delivery from Tsimikas crashed against the crossbar.
Caoimhin Kelleher was called into action a couple of times before the half-time whistle and the Irishman stood his ground to first deny Adam Idah’s effort on goal before saving a spot-kick down the middle from Tzolis as Liverpool took their lead into the break.
The Merseysiders got the second half started on the front foot and reaped instant rewards with their second goal of the game which came from Divock Origi with the Belgian heading in Kostas Tsimikas’ cross.
Origi could have doubled his tally just minutes after his opener but it was his strike partner Minamino who got his second after being fed by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
