Norwich City 0-3 Liverpool Match Report | Premier League 21-22

Liverpool ran out convincing victors over the league’s new boys Norwich City on the opening day of the 2021-22 Premier League campaign.

Jurgen Klopp’s men put out a solid display on all fronts to secure the win at Carrow Road and get the season off to a great start.

MATCH PROCEEDINGS

The visitors looked in control of the game’s proceedings but could not find the cutting edge in the final third of the pitch as Norwich goalie Tim Krul had to be called into action early on.

Both Jota and Salah came close to finding the back of the net to give their side the lead inside the opening 20 minutes but the efforts went in vain.

It was Jota, however, who was able to capitalise on Norwich’s clumsy defensive play to get the ball off Salah’s slight touch and slot it into the back of the net.

As the game neared the hour mark, Liverpool had Roberto Firmino and Fabinho coming off the bench to replace Diogo Jota and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Firmino made an instant impact upon his arrival.

The Brazillian forward was found unmarked in the box by Salah whose pinpoint pass was calmly dispatched to double Liverpool’s advantage over the newly-promoted outfit.

Salah himself got on the scoresheet only a while later with the Liverpool star frontman slotting his effort into the back of the net beyond a helpless Krul.

Liverpool’s No.1 Alisson Becker was hardly called into action over the course of the match but was at his very best when Norwich looked to pull one back as the shot-stopper produced a couple of fine saves to defy the hosts.

The final whistle marked a convincing opening day win for Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders on their travels away from home in the Premier League.
