Liverpool advanced to the semi-finals of the FA Cup with the narrowest of wins over Nottingham Forest on Sunday evening thanks to a Diogo Jota strike in the second half.

The home side Forest created the first real chance of the game through Joe Lolley but Naby Keita was there to clear the ball from falling in the danger zone.
Kostas Tsimikas, filling in for the COVID-19 absentee Andy Robertson, had his volleyed effort go just inches over the bar with Fabinho on target as well from a Chamberlain corner.
Both teams had to settle for an eventful yet goalless opening 45 minutes with the half time whistle sounded out and the scoreline nil-nil.
Forest were upbeat going forward early on in the second period and so were the visitors Liverpool who responded in style through a quadruple substitution from the bench with Luis Diaz, Takumi Minamino, Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara coming on.
Liverpool survived a scare when Forest’s Philip Zinckernagel failed to convert what should have been the opening goal of the game to put his side in the lead.
Diogo Jota, however, did not make any such mistake just minutes later with the Portuguese forward slotting home from a well-timed Tsimikas delivery into the box and win the game for the Merseysiders.
