Ligue 1 heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of the now ex-Liverpool man Gini Wijnaldum in a three-year-long deal putting a swift conclusion to the player’s transfer situation.
PSG had shockingly entered the fray and leapfrogged the earlier frontrunners FC Barcelona to sign the 30-year-old midfielder despite the Catalan outfit having registered their interest in Wijnaldum since last summer.
So excited for the next chapter in my journey 🙌🏾 Signing for Paris Saint-Germain is a new challenge for me.
I’m very proud to join one of the best squads in Europe. I want to bring all my desire and commitment to this ambitious project.@PSG_inside pic.twitter.com/PI7lFRSrmX

It is understood that the mega-money deal offered by the Parisians lured the Holland international to turn down attention from FC Barcelona and make the move to PSG which was confirmed by the player on his social media.
Wijnaldum had said his goodbyes to the Anfield faithful on the final day of play when Liverpool secured a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace to ensure a third-place finish in the 2020-21 Premier League table and Champions League qualification.
The former Newcastle United man had not been able to agree upon extended terms with the Reds in spite of the boss Jurgen Klopp making a couple of last-ditch attempts in order to coax Wijnaldum into signing a contract extension beyond the ongoing summer.
