Gini Wijnaldum’s availability as a free agent in the summer is reportedly of interest to French champions Paris Saint-Germain, claims Le Parisien.
The Holland international has long been tipped to call it quits at Anfield in the summer transfer window with his deal coming to a close and after repeated attempts from the club to tie down the midfielder to improved terms proving futile, Wijnaldum will be a player many teams across the continent would be keeping an eye out for.
FC Barcelona had previously been reported to be in the driver’s seat to snap up Wijnaldum’s signature when the summer arrives but PSG’s interest will also engross the former Newcastle United man.
The new boss of the Ligue 1 outfit Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be a long-term admirer of the midfield star and having failed in his attempts to sign Wijnaldum during his days at Spurs, Pochettino will be keen on making a concrete approach for the player this time around.
Liverpool FC, meanwhile, have stepped up their attempts to bring in replacements for their first-team midfield option as the likes of Lille star Renato Sanches and Udinese’s Rodrigo De Paul are understood to be the names on the Merseyside club’s shortlist for the summer.
