Pep Guardiola reveals key reason behind Liverpool’s stuttering form

Lack of potency in the final third of the pitch has cost Liverpool FC dearly, according to Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, as the Spaniard suggested that the Reds are suffering due to their attacking endeavours proving futile.

Jurgen Klopp’s men came out second best to Leicester City on Saturday afternoon, a third straight loss in top-flight football for the Merseysiders, bringing about further misery to the Anfield giants ahead of their Champions League tie next week.

Guardiola admitted that the Reds were not clinical while going forward, drawing sharp contrasts to something that had been a major highlight of their title-winning campaign last season before adding that Klopp’s outfit still boasted of the same quality amongst the first-team ranks.

“In the boxes they are not as clinical as they were before but the quality of their team is still there,” the Man City gaffer said, as quoted by TeamTalk.

“As a spectator, I always enjoy watching Liverpool.”

Liverpool FC have put up serious numbers on the goalscoring front this season, having netted 45 times in 24 outings, which puts them third in the charts, only behind the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United.

The Reds, however, have been accused plenty of times of being misfiring when given ample opportunities to cause trouble to opposition defences as Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have failed to hit yesteryear standards since the turn of the campaign.
