Peter Crouch tips his former side Liverpool for European glory this season

Former Liverpool FC man Peter Crouch believes Jurgen Klopp’s men are real contenders for Champions League glory this season despite Real Madrid being announced as the quarter-final opponents for the Anfield outfit.

The ongoing Premier League campaign has been a mere shadow of the past for Jurgen Klopp and Co. and with a top-four finish looking increasingly uncertain, clinching the UCL remains the sole mean to participate in Europe’s elite club competition next time around.

In his column for the Daily Mail, Crouch says that he considers Liverpool FC strong enough to withhold the challenge that would be posed by Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid outfit when the two continental heavyweights meet in the two-legged tie next month.

“I’m not writing them off,” said Crouch.

“That side of the draw is the most inviting and I would hope – and expect – Liverpool have enough to take care of Real Madrid.

“They are not what they were and even accounting for Liverpool’s problems this season, I see them getting through.”

Drawing sharp contrasts to their recent showings in Premier League action, the Merseyside Reds have been their usual self while turning out in European football and the 4-0 aggregate win over RB Leipzig served as perfect evidence of that.
