Philippe Coutinho rumored to be keen on Liverpool FC return

Former Liverpool FC star Philippe Coutinho has been reported to be keen on returning to the Merseyside club. The Brazilian international had left the Reds for FC Barcelona in an acrimonious fashion back in January 2018. However, despite Coutinho’s keenness on making a return to Liverpool FC, Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to relent on the transfer.

Since joining La Liga giants FC Barcelona in 2018, the 28-year old attacker has sustained a downward spiral in form. Coutinho was offloaded to Bayern Munich last summer on a season-long loan by FC Barcelona. However, in Germany too, the former Reds’ star was unable to regain the previous form that had made him a world-class talent at  the Merseyside.

As the 2019-20 season nears its end, Bayern Munich have opted not to make Coutinho’s stay at the Allianz Arena pe manent. Hence, the Brazilian would be heading back to the Camp Nou casting further uncertainty over his future.

However, now it seems as if Coutinho harbours a desire of a return to England to play for the Reds. And it is reported that it would cost Liverpool FC £9million to sign the player on a season-long loan. The stipulated amount is certainly very low for a player of Coutinho’s ability, irrespective of his current form.

Moreover, the 28-year old’s agent Kia Joorabchian had also confirmed his client’s aspirations of returning to the Premier League. Joorabchian had stated that Coutinho would keen on making a move to England if such an opportunity came the player’s way.

Speculation had arisen that a number of Premier League sides would be interested in securing Coutinho’s services this summer. Newcastle United, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspurs were all rumoured to be potential candidates for signing the 28-year old winger.

Nevertheless, despite interest in Coutinho from other clubs, Jurgen Klopp is reported to be unfazed by the transfer speculation. The Reds have performed in an outstanding manner since Coutinho left for FC Barcelona. Players like Mohammad Salah and Sadio Mane have stepped up and have become world-class attackers in the process.

It does seem as if despite Coutinho’s eagerness on playing in the Liverpool FC colours once again, the Premier League champions would not be making a move for their former star.
