Premier League rules could lead to Liverpool making a bid for Mason Mount with the Chelsea playmaker rumoured to be on Jurgen Klopp’s wishlist for the summer.
Liverpool could be forced to sign a homegrown player come the summer window later this year to name a 25-man squad next season and this could help their pursuit of the England attacker Mount.
According to a report from The Daily Express, it is claimed that Liverpool, who desperate to address their midfield issues in the coming transfer window, could turn to either Mount or long-standing target Jude Bellingham.
With the Borussia Dortmund sensation Bellingham certain to spark off a transfer contest over the summer between Europe’s biggest clubs, the Reds are keeping tabs on Mount yet to put pen to paper on a contract extension at Stamford Bridge.
Mount is one of the lowest-paid players in the Chelsea first-team squad and with his current deal due to expire in 2024, Chelsea are pushing for their star player to stay put by penning a new long-term contract.
