Real Madrid get ready to rival FC Barcelona for signing Gini Wijnaldum

Real Madrid are keen on rivalling the long-term approach for Liverpool FC midfield star Gini Wijnaldum by domestic rivals FC Barcelona, recent reports from the Express state.

The Dutchman, whose future in the Liverpool FC shirt has been subject to a great deal of speculation since the summer of 2020, could be on his way out of Anfield when his current deal with the Merseyside giants comes to an end.

Despite recent reports indicating Liverpool FC’s desire to offer a massive wage bump to the 29-year-old midfielder, Wijnaldum could be enticed to exit the Reds, primarily due to a lesser guarantee of game-time following the summer arrival of Thiago Alcantara at the club.

The reports from Express claim that Zinedine Zidane’s side are keen on bringing the Dutch international to Spain this January, and with a depleted and under-par midfield at the Frenchman’s disposal, Wijnaldum’s signing could come of great importance to Los Blancos.

FC Barcelona’s long-standing resolve to land Wijnaldum’s signature will be tested by the interest shown by their arch-rivals in Real Madrid, however, Liverpool FC themselves face a fight to keep the in-demand star at Anfield beyond next summer.
