Real Madrid interested in snapping up Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards

Real Madrid are credited with a strong interest in snapping up Liverpool’s sporting director Michael Edwards next summer with the Reds executive likely to call it quits on Merseyside.

According to reports from The Daily Mail, Edwards has made it known to the Liverpool board that he does not intend to extend his stay with Jurgen Klopp’s side beyond the end of the ongoing 2021-22 campaign.

Edwards has been instrumental in Liverpool’s astute dealings in the transfer market over the past years with him playing a major role in Klopp landing the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker and Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool, however, could be in line to lose out on his coveted services next summer with La Liga bigwigs Real Madrid hoping to bring in the 41-year-old Edwards to bolster their setup ahead of an important summer transfer window for Florentino Perez and Co.

The Spanish giants are backed to bring in big-name players next summer with Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland and Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe top names on the shopping list for Perez.
