Real Madrid ready to sell Raphael Varane in the summer amid interest from Liverpool

A transfer fee northwards of £40 million is all it will take for Real Madrid to offload their defensive colossus Raphael Varane in the summer transfer window, according to reports from the Express.

Varane’s deal with the Spanish giants comes to a close at the end of the 2021-22 season and Real Madrid are understood to be open to the idea of selling the French centre-back this summer amid strong interest shown in the World Cup-winning player from the likes of Liverpool FC and Manchester United.

Jurgen Klopp’s Merseyside outfit’s plans of going on a hunt for defensive reinforcements in the summer has been well documented in recent times following an injury crisis playing the villain to the Reds’ title-defence campaign this time around.

Varane’s bargain price-tag might court the interest of the Merseysiders, reports suggest, as Klopp remains keen on adding quality talent to his backline to renew Liverpool FC’s title-winning credentials when stepping out on the pitch next season.

Manchester United’s interest in the France international is likely to give a tough fight to Jurgen Klopp and Co., meaning that both English top-flight heavyweights could well be locked in a close battle to land Varane’s much-coveted signature.
