Real Madrid skipper Sergio Ramos linked with a shock move to Liverpool

Sergio Ramos’ long-term tenure in the Real Madrid shirt is seemingly on the verge of ending as the Spanish international has been unable to sign up on new and improved terms with Zinedine Zidane’s outfit.

And should the veteran central defender leave the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, the 34-year-old could well end up at Anfield, according to reports from The Guardian.

Liverpool FC’s urgent requirement for additional defensive reinforcements is well known as the ever-increasing injury list continues to play villain to the recent form showcased by Jurgen Klopp’s men and despite the German coach insisting it would be difficult for his side to use the ongoing January window to overhaul the depleted backline, Ramos’ current situation could lure Klopp to make a move for the Spaniard.

The Madrid man’s current deal at the La Liga club expires in less than six months, leaving Ramos with an option to make the move to English top-flight football should he desire of doing so in the near future before he hangs up his boots.

Klopp’s side are facing an uncertain month-long transfer window this January, with COVID-19 playing spoilsport to the Merseysiders’ transfer plans, however, Ramos is one player that can fill the void left in the Liverpool FC XI by Virgil van Dijk’s season-ending injury layoff, leaving Klopp with much to think about in the upcoming weeks.
