According to the recent reports, La Liga giants Barcelona are keen on luring Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino in the next summer transfer window.
One player who absolutely works his socks off in Jurgen Klopp’s side is Brazilian superstar Roberto Firmino. The former Hoffenheim star cemented his place in Liverpool’s side and has been referred to as the ‘engine’ of the team. The 27-year-old has taken his game to the next level over the past couple of seasons and helped Liverpool reach the Champions League final last term.
However, these impressive displays on a consistent basis have drawn attraction from Europe’s elite clubs. And Liverpool has been powerless when Barcelona coming knocking on their doors over the past few seasons.
Back in the summer of 2014, Liverpool sold Uruguayan centre-forward Luis Suarez for £75 million after the World Cup bite-storm. And most recently, Brazilian playmaker Barcelona splashed £142 million on Philippe Coutinho in January despite the club’s best efforts to keep hold of the midfielder.
And Liverpool fans will be holding onto their breath this winter transfer window as well as Firmino has been the prime subject to Barcelona’s interest according to Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda who works for OK Diario.
Inda was asked about Barcelona’s transfer plans in the January transfer window and he replied, “It’s about Firmino, Liverpool player, I already said that Luis Suarez is seen increasingly stubborn and they are considering doing the same operation as Coutinho. But I guess at the end of the season, not halfway through.”
Firmino recently signed a long-term contract in April this year and the Reds’ faithful will be hoping that his commitment means more than just putting pen to paper.
