Rhian Brewster has asserted his desire of fighting for a first-team spot in Jurgen Klopp’s squad next season. The striker had spent the latter half of the 2019-20 season on loan at Swansea City and had enjoyed a hugely productive spell in front of the goal, scoring 10 times in 20 games.
The 20-year old expressed his delight on reuniting with his Liverpool FC teammates at the Merseyside club’s pre-season training camp being held in Austria ahead of the upcoming 2020-21 season for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
“It’s good to be back and see the boys and the staff and stuff – and it feels good to pull a Liverpool shirt back on.”
“It feels good to maybe be a part of it next season. Being away and then coming back, it’s a bit different, but seeing everyone again, seeing them all smiling and coming back confident, it’s good to be back.”
The ex-England U-17 international also voiced fond memories of his time at Swansea City earlier this year. Brewster was a key part of the Swans side that reached the Championship play-offs with his goalscoring prowess propelling Steve Cooper’s men to great heights in the second tier of English football.
“It was a good experience – a great experience, I would say.”
“It’s very good for your development at such a young age. Not a lot of 20-year-olds can say they’ve played in the play-offs. Obviously we didn’t quite make it to the final and get promoted, but to play in the semi-final, the cameras are on you and they are high-pressure games, as you will have seen on TV.”
Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp is rumored to give greater first-team involvement to Brewster next season with the young forward being accustomed to playing high-pressure fixtures. The 20-year old could rival Divock Origi’s status as Roberto Firmino’s cover at Anfield in the coming years.
