Dutch international Gini Wijnaldum has applauded the terrific pre-season form shown by 20-year old Liverpool FC striker Rhian Brewster. The FIFA U17 World Cup-winning striker was a delight to watch in front of goal during the Reds’ recent pre-season friendly fixtures being held in Austria.
Brewster found the back of the net thrice for Jurgen Klopp’s side in games against VfB Stuttgart and RB Salzburg. Against the latter, the 20-year old scored twice to salvage a 2-2 draw for his side after the Anfield giants found themselves trailing the Austrian outfit by two goals at half time.
Wijnaldum, a key component of Jurgen Klopp’s seftup at Liverpool FC, spoke about how Brewster’s ‘unbelievable’ finishing made him a dangerous forward on the pitch.
“I’m not ‘impressed’, because I know already which kind of quality he has.”
“We trained together for a few years and he showed also in training that his finishing is unbelievable, so I’m not really impressed!”
A Liverpool FC academy graduate, Brewster’s talent as a promising footballer is highly-rated by the club’s backroom staff, especially Jurgen Klopp. It was the German who had been keen on Brewster spending the second half of the 2019-20 season on loan elsewhere to gain valuable first-team involvement.
The youngster scored 11 times in 22 games for Swansea City last season while on loan at the club. His performances in front of the goal for the Swans were considered to be exemplary by Liverpool FC to warrant a place in Klopp’s first-team squad in the coming season.
