Injury Update

Roberto Firmino and Curtis Jones not in the fray to feature against Everton

Long-term injury absentees for Liverpool in Roberto Firmino and Curtis Jones are not in the fray to feature against Everton in the forthcoming derby set to be played at Goodison Park.

Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders are readying themselves to take on Everton and will be hoping to continue their recent winnings ways that have been on the show following the international break.

The Reds, however, will have to do without the services of the forward man Firmino and midfield maestro Jones with both players ruled out for the upcoming game by Jurgen Klopp in his pre-match remarks to the club’s official website.

“There’s no real update [on Curtis], so we have to wait.”

“I think once every two weeks they always make another examination. Curtis is completely fine, but we have to be careful with it and so we cannot rush it. I think the next test is tomorrow and then we will know more.

“Bobby is good but he is still a couple of weeks away from being fully back, but he is doing pretty much everything just with the extent of the injury we have to be careful, but it’s all fine.”

Firmino’s injury has not proven to be a major concern on the squad selection front for Klopp who has Diogo Jota to provide cover in the central striking role to a fantastic bag of results of late from the Portugal international.

Jones’ eye injury is in line to sideline the young midfielder for the upcoming weeks but with Klopp well-stocked in his options in the centre of the park, the Liverpool boss will not want to rush Jones back into action.
