Roberto Firmino returns to the Anfield fold ahead of Brentford clash

Liverpool’s Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino has returned to the Anfield fold ahead of this weekend’s Brentford clash awaiting Jurgen Klopp’s side in league football.

Firmino had been withdrawn off the pitch during the 1-1 stalemate against Chelsea prior to the recent international break and the 29-year-old has been missing from action since then.

Anfield Watch have claimed that Firmino is working his way to full fitness levels from his hamstring issue with the Brazil international having resumed training sessions with the rest of his Liverpool teammates.

However, Firmino featuring over the upcoming weekend for the Reds against the league’s new boys Brentford is unlikely to happen with Jurgen Klopp backed to play it safe over his star striker’s injury situation and the presence of Diogo Jota to provide cover in the striking role.

Jota has been Klopp’s go-to man to deputise for the Salah-Mane-Firmino trio when either star forward has been missing owing to injury or lack of consistency in front of the goal.
