Under-fire Liverpool FC attacking stalwart Roberto Firmino has insisted that he has no qualms over his spot in the Reds lineup being under threat due to the heroic showing put in of late by summer arrival Diogo Jota.
Firmino’s stock in the Anfield ranks is on the gradual decrease since the turn of the year, and with just a solitary goal in his last 11 games for Jurgen Klopp’s side, many feel that the Brazillian international is no longer a permanent fixture in the Merseysiders’ XI.
Meanwhile, Jota’s run of form for both club and country over the last few months has been unparalleled by any of the attacking options at Liverpool FC, leading to speculation that Firmino may face a long-lasting challenge to retain his place in Klopp’s first-team plans.
However, the player was quick to dispel the media speculation surrounding infighting at Anfield between the two star forwards, with Firmino insisting that all was well between him and Jota, according to the Mirror quoting the 29-year-old from a recent interview.
“Liverpool have a great squad of players, so earning a starting position here is not easy at all, and I am used to that.
“Diogo is an excellent footballer and another companion in the squad.
“We all work hard during the week and then the coach decides who comes out. So, I don’t have any personal battle with him.”
As Leicester City pay a visit to Anfield on Sunday, it will be upon both Firmino and Jota to keep the Liverpool FC attacking line in full frontal gear as Mohammad Salah’s absence will be duly felt by the Premier League holders.
