Roberto Firmino has voiced his intentions to stay at Liverpool beyond the summer clearly as the Brazilian’s contract is up for renewal at the end of the season.
There had been speculation doing the rounds over Firmino being subject to interest from elsewhere with Liverpool yet to reach an agreement with the player for extending his contract.
Going by his remarks in the latest issue of the official Liverpool magazine, the 31-year-old has underlined he is happy at Merseyside and wants to pen a new deal with his words echo those of his manager Jurgen Klopp.
“It’s incredible playing high-level football here with great players, stars of the game.
“I’m happy here and I intend to stay here and help Liverpool FC. It’s a dream for all players to win the Premier League and Champions League. It’s history, a huge legacy. When it happened, we felt tremendously privileged, grateful to God for having given this to us.”
Klopp has asserted in the recent past that Firmino is there to stay put at Anfield despite Liverpool’s heavy spending on recruiting attacking players over the last couple of transfer windows which had casted doubt over Firmino’s long term future in the Reds shirt.
Firmino has been sidelined with a calf injury picked up in training before Christmas and his return to the fold would be a welcome boost for Klopp whose side are on the search for their first league win of the new calender year.
