In what would come as some relief to the Liverpool FC fanbase, one of of the Merseyside outfit’s transfer targets, Olympiacos centre-back Ruben Semedo has suggested that he would keen on signing for Jurgen Klopp’s side should the Reds intensify their approach for him.
Klopp is widely tipped to dip in the January transfer window with the aim of fortifying his current defensive options in the central defender role, which have been left largely limited following potential season-ending injuries to both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
Semedo’s consistent run form for the Greek outfit Olympiacos is seemed to have convinced Liverpool FC to make a move for the Portuguese international as Klopp seeks to add much-needed cover to the backline of the Premier League holders.
As quoted by TeamTalk, Semedo’s comments indicate that the 26-year-old would be open to sealing a move to Anfield should an opportunity to come his way in the near future, with the defender voicing delight at having big clubs chase his signature in the market.
“I heard that and it’s always good to see my name linked to big clubs. Let’s see what happens in the future.
“There was interest from some clubs, but now it doesn’t make much sense to be speaking their names, because, after all, I renewed my contract at Olympiacos and I’m focused on my work here.”
