Sadio Mane has also tested positive for COVID-19 after last week’s reports had confirmed that Thiago Alcantara too had been diagnosed with the pandemic virus.
According to the latest information reported by the Reds’ official website, Liverpoolfc.com, Mane has shown minor symptoms of the virus. However, the Senegal international is in good health and would be now placed in self-isolation for the fear of spreading it to any of his teammates at Anfield.
Following the recent announcement, it is now understood that Mane will miss Sunday’s Premier League encounter with Aston Villa, with Jurgen Klopp’s men set to visit Villa Park on the back of their Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Arsenal on Thursday.
Mane had not been in the matchday squad for the Arsenal game, however, had been a part of the Reds playing XI that secured a 3-1 win over the Gunners in the league meeting between the two sides on Monday.
