Sadio Mane Is Eager To Win Trophies At Liverpool

Liverpool’s star attacker Sadio Mane has claimed that Liverpool are thriving on the high expectations that the club set last season.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds look like the only team that can stop Manchester City in the Premier League this term at the moment as the Merseyside outfit sits just two points behind Pep Guardiola’s men. Liverpool, along with Manchester City and Chelsea are the only unbeaten clubs in the Premiership but Anfield is bouncing because of the expectations that the team has set for the fans last campaign.

Liverpool set a record in the Champions League as they scored the most number of goals in the tournament last season, storming their way to the final of the competition only to lose out to Real Madrid.  A trophy is on the cards for Klopp this season as the German has been in charge of Liverpool since October 2015 but Senegalese captain Sadio Mane does not feel the pressure of winning something major.

While speaking to news outlet Goal this week, the 26-year-old said that Liverpool are not under pressure but instead it’s a motivation for the high expectations that club set last season, “For us, it’s a motivation, not a pressure. We are all still young, and we know we have a great team. We will continue to try to do our best, but it’s not pressure. Pressure doesn’t help, Of course, last season, nobody expected it from us, and maybe this year they do. But that is not pressure; that’s motivation to do even better. You need that”

Mane added that he wants to score more goals but will be satisfied only if the club as a whole win something together, “The aim of any player is to get better and better and better. That’s why we work hard in training. But don’t forget that we are a team, and the most important thing is to win trophies. If my goals help us to do that, or Mo’s or Bobby’s, then that’s a dream. Of course, I would love to score more than I did last season, but only if it helps us to win!”

It’s high time that a big club like Liverpool starts winning trophies because that’s the only way a club is measured in today’s world. The Reds stand a great chance of winning something this season as they are very strong and are yet to get the best out of themselves. Mane will probably have to play a massive part for Liverpool if they have to win something this season.
