Jurgen Klopp provided comforting news on Sadio Mane’s injury situation as the Liverpool FC boss said that the Senegesle forward is in contention to return for Sunday’s game at home to Manchester City.
Liverpool FC’s latest outing in Premier League football turned out to be a 1-0 defeat at the hands of relegation favourites Brighton and Mane was one amongst a number of first-team regulars missing from action owing to injury concerns.
The former Southampton man had been sidelined prior to Liverpool FC’s visit to the London Stadium last week due to a muscle issue, according to the Merseyside outfit’s statement, and the 28-year-old had failed to make the matchday squad for the Brighton game as well.
However, Mane could possibly return to the starting eleven for the Reds come Sunday, Jurgen Klopp’s post-match press conference suggested, with the German coach voicing optimism over his star attacker staging an eagerly-awaited comeback to the first-team fold at Anfield.
“And Sadio we will see.”
He might be available for the weekend, I don’t know. He didn’t train with the team today. We will see,” Klopp said, as quoted by the club’s official website.
