Sadio Mane named PFA Fans’ Player of the Year

The Premier League PFA Fans’ Player of the Year award for 2019-20 has been bestowed upon Liverpool FC forward Sadio Mane. The 28-year old was one of the Reds’ most influential players last season across the Anfield giants’ first Premier League title-winning campaign in 30 years.

Mane polled an impressive 41 percent of the vote share as opposed to the 27 percent that was cast in favor of Manchester City playmaker Kevin de Bruyne. The Liverpool FC attacker’s teammate, Trent Alexander Arnold, came third with a 17 percent share.

The Senegalese international emerged as a major attacking threat for any opposition in the Premier League. With 18 goals to his name in league football last season, Mane’s goalscoring tally for Jurgen Klopp’s side was surpassed only by Mohammad Salah who found the back of the net 19 times helping Liverpool FC storm to league-title winning glory.

The result for the Premier League PFA Fans’ Player of the Year was announced shortly after Kevin de Bruyne was adjudged the winner of the Premier League Player of the Season for the recently concluded 2019-20 Premier League campaign.

The Belgian international beat the Reds trio of Jordan Henderson, Arnold, and Mane himself, to the top honor. Other nominees on the shortlist for the year-end award included Golden boot winner Jamie Vardy, Danny Ings, and Burnley shot-stopper Nick Pope.
