The Merseyside giants moved 16 points clear of nearest rivals Manchester City at the summit of the table, while still possessing a game in hand after Salah latched onto a long ball from goalkeeper Alisson Becker to seal the three points and the win in the final minute of stoppage time in the second half.
UEFA Men’s Player of the Year Virgil Van Dijk opened the scoring for the hosts following a corner the 14th minute but Salah’s goal sent the Anfield faithful into a frenzy at full time with glorious scenes of emotion.
Having scored his 10th goal in the Premier League the Liverpool forward joked that it was due to his return from injury the Reds overcame the Red Devils, “As you can see today I get back from the injury so we won the game, so I’m very happy for the team now, We enjoy the moment and hopefully, we finish like that. I got a pass from Alisson, no one else could get me the ball, but I’m very happy about the result, that’s the most important thing.”
