Salah Is Similar To Messi Claims Arsene Wenger

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated that Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah is quite similar to Barcelona’s Lionel Messi but the Egyptian is a bit more selfish.

Ever since Salah has joined Liverpool in a £37 million deal from Serie A side AS Roma back in the summer of 2017, he has become an absolute revelation for Jurgen Klopp’s side tearing up the records books at Anfield.

The 27-year-old winger has won back to back Golden Boot awards and also helped Liverpool to win the Champions League by scoring in the final against Tottenham Hotspur in the final of the competition.

This season Salah has helped Liverpool to the summit of the Premier League table but also suffered some criticism for being a bit too selfish after the incident with his African compatriot Sadio Mane against Burnley.

Mane was less than amused when Salah refused to pass the ball to him at Burnely and was visibly frustrated on the bench. However, ex-Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that is Salah wants to be named in the same breath as Messi, he needs to overcome his selfish trait.

While speaking to beIN Sport the Frenchman said, “He [Salah] has similarities with Messi; he must find the consistency of Messi. I find he’s as good a finisher but Messi has the complete thing, he gives the final ball as well. Salah is a bit obsessed with finishing himself. That’s a dimension he’ll get certainly, when he grows a little bit older, to find the moment when you have to give the ball and when you have to finish. But I like him very much, he has huge potential. Mane as well.”
