Samuel Eto’o Believes This African Superstar can Win The Ballon d’Or

Former Chelsea superstar Samuel Eto’o believes that his pep talks to Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has helped the Egyptian kick-start his career.

Ever since joining Liverpool back in the summer of 2017 from AS Roma, Mohamed Salah has been a revelation for the Merseyside club. In his debut season for Liverpool, Salah notched up 44 goals and helped the club reach the Champions League final. The 25-year-old winger ripped apart record books at Anfield and is now hoping to win some silverware this term.

However, it wasn’t all a smooth journey for Salah when he first came to the Premier League with Chelsea. The West London club had plenty of stellar forwards during the time and Salah found it difficult to make a name for him, as he played alongside Eden Hazard, Didier Drogba and even Samuel Eto’o, formerly of Barcelona.

But Eto’o believes that the secret conversation that he had with Salah has helped the Liverpool talisman to reach the heights he is achieving on a regular basis at the moment.

While speaking to Sports channel Al-Kass, the Cameroonian international said that he told Salah to keep his head up after he had a poor game for Chelsea, “I hope that Salah remembers the day we were together in Stamford Bridge dressing room after he’d had a poor performance. I asked him to be patient and told him ‘You are a good player and you will become a great player’ Salah has turned into that big player and will write his own story through persistence and strong desire.”

Eto’o went on to explain that Salah can win the Ballon d’Or in the near future, “He has unbelievable skills and is currently performing at a top level that’s allowing him to compete for Ballon d’Or.”

Seems like Eto’o could predict the future back then eh?. But on a serious note, Salah can take his game to the next level only if he performs like this on a regular basis. Hopefully, he can win some trophies with Liverpool this season which could give him some extra confidence moving forward.
