Liverpool FC’s 18-year old centre-back Sepp van den Berg is courting interest from a number of clubs across England and Holland reports from The Liverpool Echo suggest.
Van den Berg has been a highly consistent performer for the Liverpool FC youth development squads since his arrival at the Merseyside club last summer from Dutch outfit PEC Zwolle in a deal costing the Reds just north of £1 million.
Despite the talent the young defender possesses, he has been unable to draft himself into Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans due to the presence of much experienced options in Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez. As a result, Liverpool FC could be tempted to loan out Van den Berg for the duration of this season to fastrack his development.
The 18-year old has only been afforded chances to play in the EFL Cup for the Reds senior squad last season, however, did not play in last week’s cup tie against Lincoln City.
A season-long loan move to a side that could grant the defender a chance to play regular first-team football would go a long way in Jurgen Klopp’s hopes of making Van den Berg an ideal successor to his Dutch compatriot Van Dijk at centre-back for the Anfield giants.
