In a pursuit to shore up defensive options at Anfield following an injury crisis looking all certain to haunt Liverpool FC’s title defence chances, the Merseyside Reds have turned their attention towards Torino centre-back Gleison Bremer, according to reports from The Athletic.
The Brazilian defender has looked a solid performer for the Serie A side over the last few seasons, and at just 23 years of age, presents himself as a viable option for Jurgen Klopp to sign this coming January.
Liverpool FC look in urgent need of additional centre-back options in the upcoming winter transfer window with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Fabinho all on the recovery table for now, and the former two being speculated to be season-long absentees for the Premier League holders.
Bremer’s move to Anfield could put him in contention for a starting spot in the Liverpool FC XI, owing to long-term injuries to both Van Dijk and Gomez, and the Torino man is being considered as a short-term cover for both the injured Liverpool FC star central defenders.
However, what is interesting in this transfer saga is that arch-rivals Everton are also understood to be in the mix to make a move for Bremer, and it remains to be seen which Merseyside club gets away with landing the prized Serie A star signing ahead of an important transfer window for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
