Liverpool centre-back Ben Davies is a target for Sheffield United with the Championship outfit wanting to sign the defender on a season-long loan agreement in this summer’s transfer window.
Reports from The Sun claim that Davies is being eyed up by the Blades who are in the transfer market ahead of the start of the next season with hopes of bringing in fresh blood for their defensive department.
With the veteran figure of Phil Jagielka departing Bramall Lane, Sheffield United are on the hunt for a new name in the centre-back role and have zeroed in on Davies who made the move to Anfield in the January window earlier this year.
Since his joining Jurgen Klopp’s Merseyside outfit, the former Preston North End central defender is yet to make his debut outing with injury issues curtailing his time on the football pitch for his new side with whom he signed a long-term deal in the final hours of the winter transfer window.
The 25-year-old Davies is understood to be far down the Anfield pecking order with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip along with this summer’s arrival Ibrahima Konate Jurgen Klopp’s go-to options to draft in the heart of the backline.
