Amid rumors of Norwich City holding out for a £20 million offer, Liverpool FC are set to table an improved bid for 22-year old fullback Jamal Lewis. According to reports, the Reds’ opening £10 million bid for Lewis was rejected by the Canaries.
Norwich City’s £20 million valuations for their fullback may not be such a major hindrance in transfer talks with Jurgen Klopp’s side. There exists the possibility that both sides are able to agree upon a price in the middle.
Considering the 22-year old’s talent on the pitch, the Reds would surely not mind paying a slightly higher transfer fee to finalize Lewis’s signing ahead of next season.
However, recent speculation suggests that the Premier League champions, in their second approach for the Norwich City left-back, have tabled an offer including a “substantial sell-on clause”.
It is understood that the player has his heart set on a move to Anfield this summer. Moreover, certain reports have even claimed that Lewis has agreed to much fewer first-team opportunities at the Merseyside club to seal a move away from the Canaries.
Signing the 22-year old English fullback would mean that Jurgen Klopp will have a worthy backup option at left-back to Andy Robertson. The current Liverpool FC first-team squad has a significant lack of cover in the fullback positions, something Jurgen Klopp has been attempting to solve this summer.
