Steve McManaman unsure whether Jude Bellingham will sign for Liverpool

Anfield great Steve McManaman is unsure whether Jude Bellingham will sign for Liverpool with the race to land the talented teenager heating up.

The Dortmund sensation Bellingham is said to be the priority target in the transfer market for the Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp who is looking to reinforce his midfield options next summer.

Prizing away the 19-year-old midfielder, however, appears a tough task for his suitors, including Liverpool, with some of Europe’s biggest clubs vying for Bellingham’s signature which has McManaman casting doubts over his old club’s chances.

Liverpool are likely to face heavy competition on the transfer front for the England international Bellingham with this year’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar expected to be a major event for the player to showcase his ability on the biggest stage of all.

In an interview with Horseracing.net, McManaman admitted that the Reds could find it difficult to sign their long-standing target Bellingham who will have to make the decision of a return to England after leaving Birmingham back in 2020.

“A lot of it will be down to personal preference.

“If he continues his trajectory then he will be good enough for whichever club that gets him. Secondly, It’s dependent on whether he wants to come back to England.”

“He’s certainly the type of player that Liverpool would be interested in and most teams for that matter. No doubt there’s been lots of teams who’ve been in conversation with his agent. They’ll already be whittling down the ideal club for Jude.

“The most important thing for Jude is that he has a good season. Prospective buyers will be looking closely at how he plays this year, so he will have to impress. Hopefully he can have an impressive World Cup with England as that will greatly benefit his future.”
