Steven Gerrard is reportedly plotting a January move for Liverpool defender Joe Gomez who has fallen down the pecking order in the Anfield fold this season.
Ibrahima Konate was Jurgen Klopp’s only new recruit in the summer’s transfer window and with the Frenchman’s arrival, Gomez has found it hard to secure a berth on the starting team sheet for the Reds.
A recent injury has further added to the England international’s woes with Gomez clocking just 13 minutes of top flight action which could convince the centre-back to seal a move elsewhere and get a career lifeline.
According to reports from The Daily Mirror, it is claimed that Anfield icon Steven Gerrard, who was recently appointed to the Aston Villa top job, is looking at Gomez as a top name on his club’s shopping list for the forthcoming January transfer window.
Gerrard is understood to be in the market for reinforcements to bolster his defensive roster and Gomez’s current situation at Anfield makes him a viable target to open talks for with his former side.
