Steven Gerrard voices huge praise for Jurgen Klopp and asks to build a statue

Former Liverpool FC captain and an icon among the club’s supporters Steven Gerrard has showered praise on the Reds manager Jurgen Klopp by stating that the Premier League leaders should build a statue of their German coach outside Anfield if they are able to secure the title in the coming weeks.

Gerrard, who is currently the manager of Scottish side Rangers FC, stated that the Liverpool FC board should honour Klopp, who has done a lot for the Merseyside club and would be the first manager to lift the Premier League title if the Reds are able to wrap up the league with the Liverpool FC side needing just six points out of their nine remaining fixtures in the Premier League.

The Reds are seated first in the Premier League table and have a comfortable lead of 25 points over second-placed Manchester City FC, who Arsenal in their opening fixture since the league was suspended in March owing to the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. If Arsenal manages to win against Manchester City FC, the Reds would just to scrape through a win in the Merseyside Derby, which is scheduled for 21st June and would be Liverpool FC’s first game since the unexpected three-month break.

In an interview, Gerrard expressed his profound admiration for Klopp and stated that he believed that the former Borussia Dortmund coach was indeed the best manager in the world. Noting his own managerial career of two years, Gerrard admitted to the struggles a manager faces in the footballing world and voiced his respect for Klopp who has faced many such obstacles in his long managerial career.

The former Reds midfielder also added that Klopp’s charisma suits the Liverpool FC fans who adore the German and sing his praises at Anfield.

Gerrard expressed his belief that Klopp, who led the Reds to their sixth Champions League trophy last year in Madrid, should be considered as one of the Liverpool FC managerial icons alongside Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley, both of whom are regarded as greats among the Reds faithful and have been honoured with statues outside Anfield.

The Rangers manager also said that Klopp’s humble nature would prevent him from being mentioned in the same category as Shankly or Paisley, but nevertheless, the Liverpool FC owners should do their part and honour the Reds manager.
