Reds’ Player of the Month opens up on his awards

Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge has won the Player of the Month Award as well as the Goal of the Month and has claimed that he has had a decent month.

Just a few months ago back into the summer transfer window, most of the Liverpool fans were probably hoping that Sturridge gets sold in order to generate some revenue for the club’s other transfers. The talented Englishman’s career has been hit with a series of unfortunate injuries that have constantly halted his growth.

However, this season, the 29-year-old center-forward looks in good shape and is itching for more minutes on the pitch. Sturridge netted thrice for Liverpool in four appearances which earned him September’s Player of the Month, after winning the pole against Virgil Van Dijk and James Milner who came in second.

Delighted with his award the tricky attacker revealed that he has had a decent month and stated that he was happy to contribute to the team, “It’s good, it’s a good achievement, it was a good month for myself, I felt like I contributed to the team. I feel like we didn’t get all the results we would’ve liked to have got, but it was a decent month”

And the former Chelsea star Sturridge had to make some more space for another award, Goal of the Month, for his effort against the West London club in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge which helped Liverpool earn a crucial point against their title rivals.

Sturridge felt that Liverpool were deserving of a point in that game and that his stunner probably deserved the award as well, “Yeah, I think probably with the stage of the game and the time that it was, It was a game where we kind of wanted to get a point at least, and it felt as if we deserved it, so it was good to contribute and help the team get a point which I think we deserved.”

Certainly, at this point in time, no Liverpool fan wants Sturridge leaving Anfield anytime soon.
