Talk of Takumi Minamino leaving Anfield with the onset of the summer transfer window has gained ground following the forward’s departure from the Japan camp during international duty.
Japan Football Association put out an official statement which claimed that Minamino had left the camp owing to ‘club circumstances which many believe are rumours of him leaving Liverpool.
“Takumi Minamino will be leaving due to club circumstances.”
The former Salzburg man has been tipped to head out the Anfield exit door this summer after spending the second half of the last season on loan at Premier League side Southampton.
Minamino emerged as a priority target for the Saints and Ralph Hasenhuttl who is keen on adding options to his attacking line which can be fulfilled should he make a move for the 26-year-old Liverpool attacker who has been a fringe player for Jurgen Klopp.
Since his arrival on Merseyside in January 2020, Minamino has failed to cement his place on the teamsheet for the Reds with the likes of Firmino, Mane, Salah and now Jota way ahead of the Japanese in the pecking order.
