Reds starlet Adam Lewis is set to join French second-tier outfit AS Amiens on a season-long loan deal this summer. The left-back has been a solid performer for the Liverpool FC U-23’s over the past seasons, however, is not considered ready for first-team action at the club for now.
Lewis has made just a sole appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s side during his time at the Merseyside club. Nevertheless, the 20-year old defender is still considered to be a highly talented full-back by the Liverpool FC boss.
Sources close to the club feel that a loan spell away from Anfield will greatly benefit the Reds youth academy product. Moreover, Klopp has signed a cover for Andy Robertson in the form of Greek defender Kostas Tsimikas ahead of next season.
The arrival of the 24-year old Tsimikas would mean that it would be very difficult for Lewis to make a foray into Klopp’s first-team squad plans in the forthcoming season. The former has been signed to deputize for the first-choice Roberton at left-back in domestic cup fixtures, according to reports.
Amiens, who had been relegated to the Ligue 2 last season, are believed to be in constant negotiations with Liverpool FC. It is rumored that the French side are hoping to include an option to buy clause in the loan agreement for Lewis.
