The Reds could secure the Premier League title at Anfield after change to neutral venue plans

Liverpool FC have got the clearance to win the Premier League title at their home stadium of Anfield if the opportunity presents itself to the current league leaders.

The Merseyside club, who are looking forward to winning their first Premier League title in 30 years, can now rejoice in the official confirmation made by the Premier League board that Anfield could serve as the venue to witness the Reds title-winning celebrations.

In recent developments over the past few weeks, police calls had been made regarding shifting Liverpool FC’s remaining games in the Premier League to neutral venues.

Liverpool FC requires a maximum of six points out of their remaining nine games in the Premier League. The Reds are bound to face Crystal Palace FC at Anfield in their second game after the restart of the current season of the Premier League, which gets underway on 17th June.

However, the Reds’ away fixtures scheduled against Merseyside rivals Everton FC and Premier League contenders Manchester City FC are the only games until 2nd July which can be played at a neutral venue.

Mark Roberts, the UK’s national football police chief, had voiced his concern regarding fans gathering in huge numbers outside stadiums with the Premier League season resuming after three months. In the hope of preventing further cases of the ongoing pandemic crisis, Roberts had proposed moving six matches to neutral venues amid concerns stated by the local police force. These six matches had been termed as ‘high-risk’ by the concerned authorities.

The current season of the Premier League was suspended due to the growing outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

At the time of suspension, the Reds were comfortably seated on the top in the league table with a hefty lead of 25 points over second-placed Manchester City FC. With the team needing just two more wins out of their remaining nine fixtures, Jurgen Klopp would be looking forward to an energetic restart to the halted Premier League campaign by his Liverpool FC squad.
