Thiago Alcantara lauds Roberto Firmino, brands him the most selfless striker he has seen

Roberto Firmino was awarded special praise from his Liverpool teammate Thiago Alcantara following the Anfield giants securing a pivotal win over arch-foes Manchester United on Thursday evening at Old Trafford.

Thiago applauded Firmino’s ability in front of the goal with the latter’s brace propelling Jurgen Klopp’s side to a 4-2 win on their travels away from home, but the Spanish international added that to him Firmino was the ‘least-selfish striker’ he had come across in football.

Firmino has not been at his brilliant best over the course of this season and his two goals against a hapless Manchester United side on Thursday broke his drought which he had endured since the backend of January.

‘He’s a very important player for us,’ Thiago said in an interview with the club’s official website.

‘I think he’s the least-selfish striker I’ve ever seen in my life because he always tries to reach the best option for his team-mates, but also he’s a great goalscorer.’

Salah and Jota were the other scorers for the Merseysiders on an evening that went the visitors’ way in what was truly a must-win game for the Champions League hopefuls.

The result also meant Liverpool going above West Ham United into the fifth place of the league standings and are now just four points adrift of Chelsea who have played a game more.
