Thiago Alcantara returns to Liverpool training ahead of upcoming Champions League fixture

A familiar face was seen in Liverpool FC first-team training ahead of the Merseyside club’s clash against FC Midtjylland in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night at Anfield, with Thiago Alcantara making a return to Melwood.

The Spanish international had been ruled of the Reds’ recent fixtures, including Saturday’s 2-1 win over Sheffield United, after picking up an injury following Richarlison’s rash tackle on him in the Merseyside derby.

Whether the 29-year old midfielder is in Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the XI that will take the field at Anfield is not known, as the Liverpool FC boss would not want to risk his summer signing’s fitness for a relatively easy fixture on paper for the Reds.

Thiago’s return to training would do a lot to ease the worries of the Liverpool FC fanbase, who have had to deal with the sudden loss of Virgil van Dijk to a long-term ACL injury, and the Spaniard’s creativity in the centre of the park is something that Jurgen Klopp’s side could do with during such uncertain times for the Premier League champions.
