Liverpool FC midfield star Thiago Alcantara has tested positive for COVID-19, confirmed the Merseyside club in an official statement made across the club’s website and the social media platforms.
The Spanish international signed for the Reds from Bayern Munich on a four-year-long contract after months of Liverpool FC chasing a deal for the player. He made his debut for the Reds in the Premier League encounter away at Chelsea, coming on the pitch at half-time for the injured Jordan Henderson.
However, Thiago missed Liverpool FC’s recent game against Arsenal on Monday evening, fueling media speculation that the player had sustained a minor injury. However, it has now been confirmed that the Spaniard has indeed tested positive for the pandemic virus.
In the report published by Liverpool FC, it is also stated that the 29-year old is currently in self-isolation and will continue to remain in such a state for the required amount of time. Thiago has shown minor symptoms of COVID-19, the official statement read.
