Thiago Alcantara tests positive for COVID-19

Liverpool FC midfield star Thiago Alcantara has tested positive for COVID-19, confirmed the Merseyside club in an official statement made across the club’s website and the social media platforms.

The Spanish international signed for the Reds from Bayern Munich on a four-year-long contract after months of Liverpool FC chasing a deal for the player. He made his debut for the Reds in the Premier League encounter away at Chelsea, coming on the pitch at half-time for the injured Jordan Henderson.

However, Thiago missed Liverpool FC’s recent game against Arsenal on Monday evening, fueling media speculation that the player had sustained a minor injury. However, it has now been confirmed that the Spaniard has indeed tested positive for the pandemic virus.

The 29-year-old, who missed Monday’s match against Arsenal, has exhibited minor symptoms of the virus but is in good health and is getting better. The club has, and will continue to follow, all protocols relating to COVID-19 and Thiago will remain in self-isolation for the required period of time.
