Thiago Alcantara to Liverpool?

Rumours are rife that the Reds are closing in on the Spanish midfielder, Thiago Alcantara, from Bayern Munich.

The Premier League champions realise that there is life after lifting the trophy high up into the sky and are looking forward to the next season with some quality additions.

Thiago is eager to call Anfield home and has even agreed to the personal terms with the Merseyside club. He is technically sound and is one of the brightest talents world football has to offer. He spent the better part of his footballing career at Allianz Arena but is set to bring the curtain down on his time with the German champions.

Although Jurgen Klopp gave the go-ahead for the transfer, both Bayern and the Reds are yet to agree a price for the Spaniard. Liverpool value the player at around £22m but the Bavarian giants reportedly want £36 million for Thiago. Even though the two clubs are still apart from each other on the fee, Thiago and the Liverpool fans are optimistic that both the clubs would find a middle ground to ensure his transfer to Anfield.

He is also said to have put his house up for sale in Munich- too desperate to turn the page and leave Germany for good! He has achieved everything in Germany- winning the title in each of his seven Bundesliga seasons with Bayern alongwith four DFB Pokal cups. To add to that, he has also won the Champions League, two La Liga titles, UEFA Super Cup, and Copa del Rey with Barcelona. He has lost only nine percent of his matches at Bundesliga, which is the best rate ever for a player with more than 150 matches. He has scored 31 goals in 231 games and was a revelation at Bayern. Even though the club had met all of Thiago’s demands, the Spaniard abruptly turned down a contract extension. But Bayern boss Hansi Flick is hoping that he would stay in Bavaria and is trying all he can to make sure he stays.

He has also tasted success in LaLiga with Barcelona and is now looking out for a fresh challenge- The Premier League. Thiago would gel in well with the Liverpool team and could be the ideal replacement for Gini Wijnaldum. He will face stiff competition from James Milner, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Wijnaldum himself, who won’t go down without a fight.

Thiago ell accustomed to playing in a 4-3-3 system and would slot perfectly into the Reds’ midfield. He is versatile and can play in three or four positions. Thiago has a knack for breaking up the play of the opposition in the blink of an eye. His unparalleled dribbling ability coupled with his long range passing have left the fans in awe.

His pitch perfect assists and a wonderful ability to beat opponents at will would come in handy at Anfield. The Spanish creator would infuse technical precision and flair to Jurgen Klopp’s vision and would add skill to Liverpool midfield workhorses.

With his contract expiring at the end of next season, this might be the perfect opportunity for Liverpool to acquire his services when the transfer window opens for Premier League and EFL clubs on July 27th.
